Bixby

Bixby’s Cale Fugate – Bixby Spartan – Presented by Fieldhouse Gear

Bixby High School sophomore Cale Fugate is in his first year of track and field, but he is already participating in four events. Fugate runs the 100-meters, 200-meters, 4×100 and the 4×200.

“I love to compete everyday against my teammates. We make each other better during practice every day,” said Fugate.

And that is a big reason for the success the Bixby program is enjoying this track season. Fugate said he is getting better every week thanks to the hard work he and his teammates are putting in every day.

“I feel like we have improved with every week. It’s been a learning process, trying to improve my form and technique each day,” said Fugate.

Being a student-athlete at Bixby High School has been a fun experience for Fugate.

“Being a student-athlete at Bixby has been a lot of fun. There are lots of great competitors in Bixby at every level. Our coaching staff in each sport really care about each of us doing things the right way and always work hard to make us better on and off the field,” said Fugate.

Also a football and basketball player, Fugate works hard in and out of the classroom to maintain good grades in order to help his teams succeed.

“I take the classroom very seriously. I have worked very hard in the classroom and have been able to obtain an unweighted 4.0 GPA,” said Fugate.

Even though Fugate is only a sophomore, he has plans once he graduates to continue his education in college.

“I plan on attending a four-year college after high school. If I get the opportunity to play college football that would be a dream come true,” said Fugate.

But this summer will be spent preparing for the fall football season.

“I plan to continue to stay in the weight room, preparing for the upcoming football season,” said Fugate.

The sophomore said his father and his coaches have been tremendous influences on him growing up in the Bixby system.

“My parents have been very involved in my athletic career. My dad coached me for seven years in INFC football as a kid. They push me to be the best version of myself every day. I have been fortunate to have many great coaches over the years that have put in many hours to help me to improve,” said Fugate.
