One of the greatest golfers of all time, Jack Nicklaus once said, “I’m a firm believer in the theory that people only do their best at things they truly enjoy. It is difficult to excel at something you don’t enjoy.” If you spend just a few minutes around Dylan Teeter, you will have no doubt that golf is something that brings him happiness.

Teeter, who is a senior at Bixby High School, first picked up a golf club at the age of seven. By the time he was eight, he was playing competitively. As his senior year comes to a close, Dylan has his sights set on the future.

“I am ready to start the next chapter of my life,” he stated. “I have committed to play golf for Oklahoma City University. I am excited to continue my career and education through the university and cannot wait to start.”

For Teeter, there are a couple of men at Bixby that have been influential in his high school years and served as examples for him to look up to.

“Wes Coleman was our golf coach last year,” Dylan said. “He is a remarkable man with a great sense of humor, even though he has faced some obstacles, I’ve never seen him discouraged and always has a smile on his face. Also, our current coach, Glenn Sullivan. Coach Sully and I have had some great conversations that we still continue to have almost each and every day. He is a great motivator to help each and every player on our team to help bring the full potential out of each and every one of us. If one of us is having a difficult time he is always there to help brighten the mood and get us back on track and focus on the task at hand.”

While he enjoys playing golf, Teeter also likes just being out on the course and enjoying it all.
“Being by myself on the course allows me to take it all in and appreciate what I have,” he said. “The golf course is my sanctuary, it’s the place that makes me feel like I can be something significant.”
