OFFENSE

The defending Class 6AI state champions return a good chunk of their team including two important pieces of the offensive line. Trey Gibbs (6-3, 245, Sr.) and Milton White (6-0, 300, Jr.) are the keys to the offensive line’s success this season. Their experience and leadership will help this unit develop. The glaring question for the Trojans is at quarterback. Coach Keith Riggs has solid options at the position, but the starter has not been determined. The eventual quarterback will have a plethora of wide receivers to throw to. Glenny Jones (5-7, 135, Sr.) is a speedy receiver with excellent hands and is a Jenks lifer. Cade Stacey (6-2, 175, Sr.) is another senior with big play potential in the passing game. Jaylin Stanford (5-11, 178, Jr.) is a hybrid type player who can hurt you in the passing game or be used as a running back. Getting the ball in his hands is key this season for the Trojans. Ty Walls (5-11, 165, Jr.) is another possession type receiver who is dependable and an excellent blocker downfield. The Trojans will stick to their multiple set offense, using personnel groups to get the matchups they desire. Expect the offensive attack to be as balanced as any 6A team can be. The coaching staff consists of Greg Calabrese, Justin Glenn, Darrell Beeler, Kyle Cherry, Tramaine Thompson, Trent Taber, Bryan Freeman, Adam Gaylor, Josh Elmer, Mike Gaines, Justin Kay, David Alexander, and Nick Whitmer.

DEFENSE

Eight starters return to the defensive side of the ball for the Trojans. The defensive line looks to be the strength of the defense in 2021. AJ Brown (6-1, 308, Sr.), a three-year starter, will see plenty of double-teams this season after putting 6A on notice last season that he cannot be stopped by one man alone. But if you double-team Brown, expect guys like Coleman Thurber (6-3, 250, Sr.) and Montre Samuels Parker (6-0, 252, Sr.) to have big numbers this season. Thurber has great technique and can get to the quarterback while Parker is a nightmare to stop on every play. Behind that salty defensive line is a pair of hard-hitting linebackers in Ethan Bilgrien (6-0, 196, Sr.) and Cooper Crissup (5-9, 188, Jr.). Both guys are downhill linebackers who understand the game and read very well. Of course, the Crissup name is synonymous with excellence on the field for the Trojans. Joey Havir (6-3, 197, Sr.) is an exciting defensive back to watch and someone who could become a highly recruited player before the season is over. Also look for Stanford to see time in the secondary as well.
