Bixby’s Braylin Presley Named the 2021 shelter insurance mr. football Award Winner

VYPE MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES THE 2021 SHELTER INSURANCE MR. FOOTBALL AWARD WINNER: BRAYLIN PRESLEY FROM BIXBY HIGH SCHOOL

TULSA, OK (January 12th, 2022) – VYPE Magazine and Shelter Insurance are proud to announce the winner of the 2021 Mr. Football Oklahoma Award is Braylin Presley of Bixby High School. Presley becomes the tenth player to win the coveted award and follows in his older brother’s footsteps, Brennan Presley, who won the award in 2019.

The Shelter Insurance Mr. Football Oklahoma Award recognizes the outstanding athletic achievements of Braylin Presley and the high standards of athletic excellence and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, which distinguishes Presley as Oklahoma’s best high school football player this season.

Presley capped an historic season with the Bixby Spartans by winning the Class 6A-II state title over Deer Creek. The win marked the seventh state football title for Bixby in the last eight years. Under the leadership and guidance of head coach Loren Montgomery, Presley helped lead the team to a perfect, 13-0 season and their 49th consecutive win.

During the season, Presley rushed for more than 1,100 yards with a total of 1,915 all-purpose yards and 27 touchdowns. For his career, Presley finished with 4,978 yards rushing and 7,409 all-purpose yards with 102 touchdowns. In the championship game, Presley rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another in the first half. During the game, Presley became Bixby’s all-time leading rusher. Presley was also named the 2021 Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year.

VYPE Magazine Publisher Austin Chadwick said of Presley, “Braylin Presley is everything you want in a Mr. Football Oklahoma recipient. He does everything right and is a tremendous player for the Spartans. Presley is a coach’s dream and will have a solid career at Oklahoma State University. Everyone at VYPE Magazine is excited to have another great player added to the impressive list of Mr. Football Oklahoma recipients.”

Presley joins former Mr. Football award winners; Trey’Vonne Barre’-Jenks (2012), Kai Callins-Guthrie (2013), Mason Fine-Locust Grove (2014), Cooper Nunley-Jenks (2015), Shamari Brooks-Union (2016), Joshua Proctor-Owasso (2017), Noah Cortes-Broken Arrow (2018), Brennan Presley-Bixby (2019), and Owen Ostroski-Holland Hall (2020).

Other finalists for the Shelter Insurance Mr. Football Award included: Jace Gilbert-Marlow, Erik McCarty-McAlester, Jacob Sexton-Deer Creek, Ben Harman-Cashion, DeSean Brown-Choctaw, Talyn Shettron-Edmond Santa Fe, Jayden Rowe-Union, Khelil Deere-Eufaula, Max Brown-Lincoln Christian, Gavin Freeman-Heritage Hall, Carson May-Jones, CJ Brown-Beggs, Caden Powell-Clinton, Morgan Pearson-Plainview, Buddy Bizzell-Carl Albert.  

Mike Taffe of Bishop McGuinness High School won the 2021 Fan’s Choice Mr. Football Award, voted on by fans at VYPEOK.com.

The Shelter Insurance Mr. Football Oklahoma Award is voted on by members of the media to include print, radio, and television across Oklahoma. Ballots are sent to more than 70 members and voting takes place over a month-long period. Voting ended on January 10th, 2022.
