Army National Guard Spotlight – Memorial’s Ethan Gregory

Coming from a family with a long history of military service to our country, Ethan Gregory of Memorial High School knew he wanted to add to that tradition.

“I have wanted to join the military ever since I joined JROTC as a freshman in high school,” said Gregory. “My father’s family served in WWI (Army), WWII (Army), and in the U.S. Navy during peace times. My mother’s family served in Vietnam (Army).”

The recruiting process for Gregory was fairly easy. Once he had his test scores, it was time to pick what job he would perform in the Oklahoma National Guard. All that was left was to clear medical in the enlistment process.

“I went and talked to the recruiter about joining, I gave him my ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) score, and he helped me pick the job that would fit me the best. After I picked a job that interested me, I signed some paperwork and was off to enlist at MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station),” said Gregory. “I will serve as a 15T or Blackhawk Repairman. “

As a senior at Memorial High School, Gregory is involved in several activities including JROTC, robotics, and National Honor Society.

This summer he will embark on his military career by leaving for basic training and eventually completing AIT school before joining his unit as a Blackhawk mechanic.

“I love that I get to work alongside fellow people that love and want to protect our country and state,” said Gregory.

During his free time, Gregory said he enjoys being in the Boy Scouts and tinkering with electronics and playing video games.
