Broken Arrow’s Landon Flusche – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Excel Physical Therapy

By Derrick Smith

Over the span of their career, athletes have to do a lot of work and preparation for competition. Whether the work is in the weight room, at practice, or even at home doing extra work outside of regularly scheduled practice, the time that an athlete invests in their career helps them become the best athlete that they can be.

Landon Flusche is a member of the Broken Arrow High School baseball team and he says that for him to be where he is today, it has taken a lot of work and extra time spent on his game.

“I have put in a lot of hard work over my career,” he said. “Self-discipline has also been important. I work out on my own and have taken private lessons for years. I study the game and put in a lot into the mental aspect of pitching.”

Flusche, who is a junior, says that baseball has been a part of his life for many years and it has given him the opportunity to make some great memories.

“This is my twelfth year to play baseball and I really love the game,” he said. “I think one of my favorite memories would have to be earning and playing in the Oklahoma State Games my sophomore year as a pitcher. I hope I am able to earn that again this year.”

Throughout his baseball career, Landon has had a lot of people that have helped shape him into the person and the baseball player that he is today. While he is thankful for all of them, he says that there are a few that have made a bigger impact.

“My parents are the role models of my life,” he said. “They both played college sports and worked hard to get there. They have always cheered me on and pushed me to chase my dreams. Trevor Bauer is my favorite baseball player because he brings emotion to the game and makes it fun to watch.”

Along with playing for the Tigers, Flusche also plays baseball for the BBA Titans 17U team in the summer for his showcase team. Outside of sports, he is a member of the Leadership Club in Broken Arrow.
