Union Girls Soccer Recap – presented by Raising Cane’s

A successful season is not always determined by who hoists the trophy at the end of the season. Solid play, great team chemistry, and continued growth and improvement are all ingredients for a successful season. Union High School girls soccer coach Jami Rozell says that while her squad’s season did not end the way she wanted, they still had a great season and are excited about the future.
“For the past two years we have been very consistent,” Rozell said. “We have been district champions both seasons and finished in the 6A semifinal.  We believe we have the continuity to match that next year, and our goal is to reach the finals.  Even in the semifinal loss, the stats showed we out produced the opponent in most categories.  Any other day we score more goals.”

The Lady Redhawks ended the season with a 12-6 record, falling 1-3 to Norman North in the semifinals. The team had a few players that made a big impact on the field. Mackenzie Malham and Allysia Giles both ended the year with fourteen goals apiece, Alaina Trevino registered ten goals, and Hailey Green accumulated nine goals.

With a team this talented, it is no surprise that a number of the seniors will be moving on to play soccer at the next level. Malham will be playing for the Univeristy of Arkansas, Giles has signed to go to the College of the Ozarks, Hailey Stage will be heading north to play for Northern Oklahoma College, Raquel Fanelli will compete for Oklahoma Christian University,  and Joselyn Beltran is going to be suiting up for Ranger College.
