Collinsville Football Preview: Offense – Presented by J&K Equipment

Head coach – Kevin Jones

2021: 14-0

The Collinsville Cardinals enter the 2022 football campaign as the reigning Class 5A state champion. While last season was a huge success, head coach Kevin Jones says that his squad is going to have a tough road to repeat the success they enjoyed a year ago. “We are going to be a very young team,” he said. “We lost twenty-two seniors to graduation from last year’s state championship team and eighteen of those seniors were starters and contributors.” Zach Stein (6-1, 210, Sr.) is back at the halfback position. Last year, he had twenty receptions for 351 yards and three touchdowns, and he will look to be a leader on and off the field for this year’s team. DJ Whittley (6-2, 230, Sr.) will be on the offensive line for the Cardinals this season. He started all fourteen games at left tackle last season. He is an outstanding athlete, a great pass setter, and a good run blocker. Stepping up to play a big role on the offensive line this season will be Colten Christian (6-3, 265, Jr.).
