Sapulpa Softball Preview – Presented by RibCrib

The future of the Sapulpa softball program is in good hands as head coach Sarah Carriger looks to build on the success of last season while bringing younger talent into the lineup and creating an environment set up for success.

“Our program has turned a corner and we are ready to make a bold presence in the softball world. Our girls work hard to change the climate and culture of Sapulpa softball and their hard work is paying off. We will have a lot of experience on the field this year, and I am excited to see where the determination and skills these girls have will take them,” said coach Carriger.

Daniah Blation (SS, CF, Sr.) is one reason the Sapulpa faithful are excited to see what the season will hold. Blation was an All-District utility player last season hitting .387 and playing multiple positions. Blation is a VYPE Top 100 selectee as well. Caitlin Looney (P, Sr.) was an All-Conference pitcher last season and has been on the mound since her freshman season.

“With a season ending injury her sophomore year, she was still there day in and day out being the best teammate she could be. She did rehab and tons of extra work to make sure she came out her junior year and be extraordinary. This is exactly what she did. Caitlin pitched all but five innings for us during the 2022 season. She was able to pick up awards and honors in the Frontier Valley Conference and from her teammates,” said coach Carriger.

Kylie Burns (1B, Sr.) played error free ball last year and was awarded All-District Honorable Mention.

“As a coach it is easy to take for granted a player that plays their position effortlessly. This is exactly how Kylie plays. For the 2022 softball season, she had a 1.000 field percentage. She was perfect,” said coach Carriger. “To have a player who is involved in 90 percent of plays and she ends the year flawless is unheard of. Her poised leadership skills keep calm and peace when things get crazy, and she is one of the first to pick up a teammate and one of the last to stick around if someone needs help. Her attitude and ability to unmatched and he has big things in her future.”

Sage Adams (C, So.) is another outstanding player coach Carriger is excited to see compete this season.

“Sage is a catcher for the Sapulpa Chieftains. As a freshman, Sage caught every inning of every single game. I’m addition to her extraordinary presence behind the plate, she also hit four-hole for us and was able to handle the pressure of all these components with poise and extreme confidence. As a freshman she was recognized as All-Conference honorable mention. She is constantly working outside of practice to make herself better in every aspect of her game,” said coach Carriger.

Elizabeth Trosper (1B, So.), or “the glue,” is a very confident player who works extremely hard at being a great player and teammate. She was the DH last season. Other players to watch include Anna Southerland (UT, So.), Makayla Littlebear (IF, Sr.), and Addison Tuttle (OF, So.). Littlebear was a Golden Glove award winner last year and made All-District.
