Kiefer’s Jaylee Buck – FFA Spotlight – Presented by OK Ag Credit

Growing up in the world of agriculture it’s natural to gravitate towards programs geared to the industry. That’s exactly what Kiefer High School’s Jaylee Buck did when she started school.

“My family has been involved in agriculture for as long as I can remember. Growing up we had horses and then when I was in first grade, we were introduced to showing pigs. I got into 4H and when I was old enough to be in FFA, which was eighth grade, I joined,” said Jaylee. “My dad is definitely the entire reason I even have the opportunity to be in FFA. He’s the one that asked me if I wanted to start showing and then him and a couple of other parents at Kiefer decided they were going to start a 4H club. A couple of years later they decided to start an FFA chapter also, and I’ve been in love with this organization ever since.”

As a member of the FFA chapter at school, Jaylee is involved in many activities from working with livestock to judging and giving speeches.

“There are so many amazing things about being involved in FFA. However, I think one of the most impactful things are the opportunities that we are presented with. In FFA it’s pretty much up to you how much you want to do. But we have so many opportunities to do so many amazing things,” said Jaylee. “I am involved in giving speeches, livestock judging, and showing pigs.”

Also a varsity cheerleader, Jaylee splits time between FFA and cheer, while finding time to be part of other organizations like the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Now a junior, Jaylee said she is planning her future which includes college and study agriculture.

“The thing I love most about being on the cheer team how hard we push each other. We’re always constantly pushing each other to be better, but then afterwards we never fail to give encouragement,” Jaylee said. “I plan to go to Oklahoma State University and major somewhere in the agricultural field.”
Jaylee credit her parents for being a big influence in her life. “Definitely my parents, my mom is always so kind and ready to help when anyone needs it. She’s taught me many life lessons and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. My dad is who pushes me to be a better person every day. Whether it’s teaching me how to have a work ethic, or simply how to be a loving person. He works so hard for us and I’m extremely thankful to have him as a father.”
