Sapulpa’s Alex Cornelius – Soccer Spotlight – Presented by BenTec Insurance Agency

Sapulpa High School

Alex Cornelius is a sophomore at Sapulpa High School where he is a member of the varsity soccer team, and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The left back player said his goal for this season is to start and make a difference for his team.

“My goals for this season are to get a starting spot, get defensive player of the year and for the team to bond and become more of a family,” said Cornelius.

Coming off a season with an injury, Cornelius said he’s excited to see his teammates push him as he has continued to work on his skill set.

“I love how we have started to push each other; this was one thing that was missing from last year,” said Cornelius. “For a little bit of the last season I was in a cast so it’s hard not to improve from that, but I would say I’m improving my calmness on the ball,” said Cornelius.

In the classroom, Cornelius said his favorite subject in history and Coach D is his favorite teacher. The future graduate said he plans on serving his country after high school.

“The plan right now is to join the military and get my degree in psychology,” said Cornelius.

In his free time the sophomore said he enjoys being outside and spending time with family.

“I enjoy riding my bike, spending time with friends and family, playing chess, helping people, and going to youth group at life church,” said Cornelius.
