Collinsville High School senior Beleigh Murfin is a member of the varsity soccer team and she is enrolled at Tulsa Tech where she takes classes in the Criminal Justice Tech program. Also a soccer player, Murfin finds the time to balance her schoolwork at Collinsville with her sports and her commitment to attend classes with Tulsa Tech. 

“Tulsa Tech was the best option for me because it helped me get career skills I can use later in life and through my school it was no cost which is a hard thing to find now,” said Murfin. “I am in the Criminal Justice Tech program and I choose this one because I’ve always had an interest in solving things and crime scenes, so it was a good fit for me.” 

Thanks to the many different programs offered at Tulsa Tech, Murfin and many of her peers were able to find the course of study she was interested in and possibly use it as a springboard to a career after high school. 

“The many different opportunities at Tulsa Tech is what I liked most. For example, my CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) training I would not have found as easily in other places and it was free,” said Murfin. 

As a student at Tulsa Tech, Murfin has learned to be more of a leader around her classmates. 

“I’ve learned to be a better leader because of my responsibilities as our class leader,” said Murfin. 

Murfin said her grandmother has been a huge supporter of hers before she passed away. Murfin is thankful to have had her so involved in her life. 

“She was always my biggest supporter and when she passed away, I realized how much I would need to put in effort to make her proud and I’ve been working towards my goals ever since then,” Murfin said. 

For future students considering Tulsa Tech, Murfin offers some advice for those a little hesitant in enrolling. 

“Absolutely do it. There are not many other chances like it out there and if you decide a different route, you can always change to a different program, but the skills are always going be incredibly valuable to employers,” said Murfin. 

Her future plans include joining the Air Force and attend college while serving in the military. She would like to take more Criminal Justice courses in college and work in law enforcement, but her ultimate goal is to work as a crime scene investigator.
