VYPE: Saniya, how long have you run track and what events are you in this season?
Craven: I’ve been running track for about three years now, and this season I’ll be competing in the 100-meter dash, long jump, 4×100, and the 4×200 relay.
VYPE: What do you enjoy most about being a student-athlete at Glenpool?
Craven: I enjoy the school spirit, and passion from students and coaches to make the school a better place.
VYPE: Do you play any other sports?
Craven: I do! I play volleyball both at Glenpool and competitively.
VYPE: What do you want to do after you graduate?
Craven: I want to go to a college out of state and run track in college. I also want to major in business management.
VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life?
Craven: My mom has been a big influence in my life. She is a single mom of three and has two thriving business. She recently opened up a DUI school in Glenpool. Also, my coach from my 15s volleyball year Meika. She has encouraged me and helped me with my confidence in my sports performances.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Craven: In my free time I enjoy painting, listening to music, hanging out with friends, shopping, and traveling to new places.
VYPE: Who on the team is the toughest of the group?
Craven: There is not really a “toughest” person. I feel like the people who put in the most work are the toughest, because track is a hard sport so to work hard you must be a little tough.
VYPE: Who makes everyone laugh?
Craven: We don’t have a “clown” of the group, we all make each other laugh.
VYPE: Who is your favorite sports figure or athlete?
Craven: My favorite athlete is Sha’Carri Richardson. She is so powerful and hardworking. She is always being positive and believes in herself.
