Glenpool High School

Track meets are some of the most exciting sporting events in high school sports. With multiple schools competing, track is a great way to see several athletes from the Tulsa area in one place. One student-athlete everyone should look for this season is Glenpool High School’s Stella Edison. Edison has competed in track for several seasons and is looking forward to competing in multiple events this season.

“I have run track for six years and I participate in the 400-meter relay, 800-meter relay, 100-meter dash, and 200-meter dash,” said Edison.

Track isn’t the only sport Edison is involved in at GHS. Edison became the first female wrestler in school history to place at state.

“I was the first girl wrestler for Glenpool, along with becoming the first girls state placer,” said Edison.

With her name forever etched in the history books, Edison has turned her attention to track season and making the most of every opportunity on the track.

“I enjoy having the ability to represent my school and show pride in what I do,” said Edison.

One source of inspiration are her sisters who also competed in track when they were in high school.

“The biggest influences in my life in the track aspect has been my three older sisters, they are quite a bit older than me,so I always attended their track meets and ran down the side of the track cheering for them when I was younger. I was so excited to be like them and run track,” said Edison.

Life after high school is a topic Edison loves to address. The next chapter in her life will include college and competing at the next level.

“I am currently planning on attending college to earn my degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. I have received several Division 1 offers to run track but am awaiting some better opportunities,” said Edison.

Away from schoolwork and track meets, Edison said she enjoys being around family when she has some free time.

“I spend most of my free time in the gym and spending time with my family. I am so thankful to have amazing family in my life,” said Edison.
