Ready for another varsity track season, Lizzy Winenger will run several events for the Coweta Tigers track team. The Coweta coaching staff, and head coach Scott Chronister is confident Winenger can get the job done.
“I have run track since my freshman year. I am in the 4×100-meter relay, the 4×200-meter relay, the 100-meters, and the 200-meters,” said Winenger.
Winenger said her favorite track meet is held in Pryor, but regardless of the location, if she is competing and supporting her teammates, Winenger is happy.
“I enjoy the bond you have with the coaches and your teammates,” said Winenger.
During her sophomore year, Winenger also competed in cross country, but her focus is now on track season and making good grades in the classroom while planning for her future after high school.
“After I graduate, I am planning to attend Northeastern State University to major in Mathematics and Education and become a math teacher,” said Winenger.
The support from CHS and her family is fuel for the sprinter.
“The biggest influence in my life has to be my dad. He has been my number one fan since I can remember,” said Winenger.
When asked about her teammates, Winenger was quick to answer our questions about the toughest, funniest, and most serious athletes on the team.
“The toughest I would say Vance Disney, Matthew Morgan keeps everyone laughing, Brooklyn Chronister is the most serious on the team. Before I run or do anything I pray so I know I’m not doing this for myself I’m doing it for God.
From family to teammates, Winenger said she loves having spare time to hit the gym with her family.
