When an athlete is out on the field or court playing their game, it always gives them a little boost when they hear people from the stands cheering them on. Whether it is one person or a group of people, the impact that can make is unmeasurable. Kyleigh Lamont says that her family has always been there supporting her and she is truly thankful for it because it helped her get to where she is today.
“My entire family would be the biggest role models in my life,” she stated. “Through all my years playing softball, they have always been there through my hard times and my best times. Everyone has helped me with something along the way rather that be with hitting, catching, or even keeping my head up in the hardest of times.”
Lamont is a senior at Broken Arrow High School. She is a member of the Lady Tigers’ softball team. Kyleigh has played softball for twelve years and says she loves the game as much now as she did when she first picked up a glove.
Over her twelve years of playing softball, Lamont says that she has worked hard in order to see herself become better.
“Practice is an important part of becoming a better athlete,” she said. “But it has also taken a lot of time outside of practice and games to get me where I am today.”
Over most athlete’s careers, they have a moment or two that stands out or sticks with them for a long time. Lamont is no different and says that her favorite moment was when she hit a game-winning hit.
“We were playing Owasso during my sophomore year at Arrowhead,” she recalled. ‘The game was tied with a runner on second base. I hit the ball to the right-center gap to win the championship game in the tournament. It was a really great feeling to share that moment with my teammates.”
Kyleigh is also a member of the Senior Athletic Leadership Council.
