Deciding what direction that they want to go in their career is something that can be difficult for high school students. The first thing they have to decide is what they want to do for the rest of their life. And then they have to figure out the best way to make that happen. Blake Postoak says that Tulsa Tech is giving him a headstart on his future.
“My goal is to go into the construction field once I graduate,” Postoak said. “I am in the Carpentry program at Tech and I am learning how to work on my skills. They are also helping me begin my search for a job.”
He first heard about the programs at Tulsa Tech from his high school counselor.
“When they told me about the things that Tech offered, I knew it was something that I wanted to do,” he said. “I have always wanted to work with my hands and the carpentry program is right up my alley. If anyone is on the fence about whether or not to attend Tech, I would highly recommend it. They have a lot of different options and it is definitely something worth trying out.”
Postoak is a junior at Berryhill High School. He is a multisport athlete for the Chiefs, playing football, wrestling, and baseball. He says that he enjoys playing sports but also the other things that go along with it.
“I love sports,” he said. “I enjoy competing alongside my teammates and seeing myself grow as an athlete and as a person.”
There have been a lot of people that have made an influence on Postoak’s life. But out of them all, he says that there is one person that has made the biggest impact.
“My football coach, Pat Harper, has had a big influence on my life. He teaches us so much about the game of football, but he also teaches us about life in general. I would not be where I am today without him.”
