Coach: Rudy Garcia
20-21 Record: 13-7
Young but talented. That is how Rudy Garcia describes his Union boys basketball team. “We only have one returning starter but if we take steps in the right direction on defense, we could have a chance to be a contender,” Garcia says.
The lone returning starter is Trent Pierce (6-9, Jr.). Pierce is long and has a near seven-foot wingspan. His length, combined with his ability to play inside and outside, creates matchup problems for opposing teams and is why he currently holds several scholarship offers from big programs around the country. Kielon McQuarters (6-1, Sr.) and DaMonn Sanders (6-3, Sr.) are two seniors that Garcia will rely on to provide depth, defensive effort, and leadership to this young Union squad. Ethan Bowan (6-6, Fr.) is an underclassman that has a lot of upside according to Garcia. Other key players for Union are Malachi McElwee (6-0, Jr.), Javian Mims (6-7, Jr.), Chris Mason (6-6, So.), Dalen Fuller (6-3, So.), Cedric Dixon (6-3, So.), and Erik Madrid (6-10, So.).
