Coach: Shane Branscum
20-21 Record: 4-18
With just one returning starter from last season, Skiatook head coach Shane Branscum knows his team is young, but he believes they have the work ethic that will make them a better team by the end of the year. “We are a very young team with just one returning starter and three other who got varsity experience last season,” says Branscum. “But our guys are working very hard and getting better every day.”
Austin Thomas (5-10, Jr.) is the lone returning starter for Skiatook. “Austin started for us last year as a sophomore and really grew into a good player throughout the summer,” says Branscum. “He has worked really hard in the offseason to fine tune his skills and get stronger. We are looking for him to have a productive year.” Another key player for Skiatook will be Jake Pointer (6-2, Jr.). “Jake got quality minutes for us last season and he will really help us on the boards.” Kyler Cooper (6-2, Jr.) is another upperclassman that saw some playing time last year. “Kyler played some minutes for us last year and has worked very hard. We look for him to really help us out this season,” says Branscum. A couple more upperclassmen Skiatook is hoping will take the next step are Jace White (6-1, Jr.) and Gavin Anderson (5-10, Jr.). One underclassman Branscum is excited about is Drew Henderson (5-9, So.). “Drew will help us at point guard this year,” says Branscum. “Drew has word very hard and will get valuable minutes for us this season.”
