The programs that are available at Tulsa Tech are designed to give Tulsa area high school students a head start on the career they want to pursue after high school. Whether it is in the medical field, culinary arts, or another one of the many programs available, students can choose to go in about any direction.
Judah Kelly is a senior at Will Rogers High School, and he is a member of the Sports Medicine and Therapy Professions program at Tulsa Tech.
“I wanted to learn more about bodies and injuries,” he said. “But I also want to learn how they can be treated and even prevented. My plan after I graduate from high school is to go into nursing and become a registered nurse for Saint Francis Hospital.”
Kelly says that he first heard about Tulsa Tech at his high school, and he saw the opportunity that would be available to him.
“When I first heard about it, I thought I should definitely sign up,” he said. “I knew I would be able to learn about different professions that I would potentially be interested in for my future. Now that I am attending, it is for sure getting me ready for my future. They are preparing me for the future by giving me many opportunities to tour colleges, have clinical opportunities, and get a head start in my education or profession.”
As a student at Will Rogers, Judah is a member of the cheer team. While he enjoys cheering, he says that the team is also really important.
“I enjoy the family aspect of cheer,” he said. “Twist & Shout is not only a gym but also a family. When we compete, we cheer each other on.”
Role models have been a big part of Kelly’s life and he says he would not be who he is today without them.
“My coaches Nikki, Tad, Jon, and Mack have been huge in my life,” he said. “I look up to them because they know what is best for me and my team. They always try their hardest to push us to be the best athletes we can be. I couldn’t be more thankful for them.”
