Photography is something that Lluvia Velazquez has enjoyed for quite some time. Whether it’s finding the perfect sunset or just taking a picture with a group of friends, she says that capturing the moment and memories is special.
While she is a junior at Union High School, Velazquez is also a student at Tulsa Tech where she found a program that is a perfect fit for her.
“I am enrolled in the Photography program at Tulsa Tech,” she said. “I chose it because I have always liked to take pictures because I find people very interesting.”
Lluvia says that the program is more than just something fun to do, it is also helping her plan for her future.
“I am learning a lot about photography in the program,” she said. “I am learning different techniques, from editing photos, people skills, and even work skills. I plan on continuing my photography after I graduate. I hope to keep learning and eventually own my own business.”
She first heard about Tulsa Tech when she was a sophomore when representatives visited her high school. Now that she is a student there, she would recommend it to anyone interested.
“I heard about Tech when they came to our school last year,” Lluvia said. “What made me interested was the counselors showed how fun the programs are. If someone is interested in attending, then apply. If you get accepted, you get to meet some really cool people who have the same interest as you whether it be photography, business, nursing, or something else.”
Lluvia has had a number of people that have had an impact on her life, but she says that there is one that has made a bigger impact.
“The biggest influence on me would have to be my sister,” she said. “Although she is younger, she inspires me to do better with anything I do or try.”
