Coming off a 25-win season, the Lady Tigers and head coach Randall King are optimistic about their chances this season as they return several key players to the lineup.
“We have several players including pitchers that are returning. Our pitching and offense will need to show more consistency and we will have to be solid at the plate,” said coach King.
Senior first baseman Emma Trine will play an important role defensively as well as bring power to the plate. Trine is expected to perform at a high level with underclassmen Taylor Clay (2B, C, OF, So.) and Emily Evans (SS, OF, So.) shoring up the middle of the defense. Both can also contribute in the outfield.
“My expectation for this upcoming season is to go out on top. We have a ton of talented players, and we are all driven to be the best,” said Trine. “I enjoy playing with this group of girls because we work extremely well together, and we are all working towards the same goal. We have great leadership from every class, and I think that will help us succeed.”
Adison Normandin (P, Sr.) will see time in the circle and is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team win. Also look for Ashlyn Jobe (MI, OF, Sr.), a versatile player who can help the defense in multiple ways.
Other players to watch include Presley Cole (OF, MI, Sr.), Bailey Melton (P, OF, Sr.), Maddie Messenger (3B, OF, Sr.), Maysie Childers (OF, Jr.), Jordyn Davis (C, Jr.), Josie Henson (OF, Jr.), Aliya Scarborough (OF, C, Jr.), Hannah Jones (OF, P, So.), and Cali Lieurance (P, So.).
