Sapulpa Volleyball Preview – Presented by Rebecca LaFevers State Farm

The excitement level for Sapulpa volleyball is at a all-time high. Head coach Corey Harp has a roster full of playmakers like Tyla Heard (OH, Jr.) who comes into the season as one of the top outside hitters in the class.

“Despite being a sophomore, Tyla was a strong player for Sapulpa last year at the OPP position, being third in kills and second in blocks. With Sapulpa graduating both outside hitters from last season, she will step into a larger role as the go-to hitter on the outside. Her experience playing all the way around last year will give her a leg up in the transition,” said coach Heard.

Sophomore standout Mataya Hall (S, OPP, So.) is expected to have a big season as well after a great season in her first year of varsity volleyball.

“As a freshman last year, Mataya piloted the Lady Chieftains to a 22-16 record, Regional Championship, and a sixth seed in the Class 5A State Tournament, as the setter in the 5-1 system. She set the school record for assists in a season in 2021 and is poised to shatter all the career setting records by the time she finishes her career. Mataya is athletic, smart, and always a threat to attack; just the attributes you look for in a 5-1 setter,” said coach Harp.

Raeni Tucker (OH, So.) is another young but talented player coach Harp is excited to see develop this season. Also look for Bailey Moore (DS, Sr.), Wrigley Adkisson (MB, So.), Victoria Castillo (MB, Sr.), Jailey Battles (S, OPP, Jr.), Kinzie Wagner (L, Sr.), Trinity Johnson (DS, Sr.), and Brooklyn Kuster (DS, So.).
