DARRIN WEGNER

OFFENSE
To say coach Wegner and the Oologah football staff are excited for the upcoming season would be an understatement. Even though this is a young team, coach Wegner is confident in their ability to get the job done. “We are a young football team with only eight seniors, but we feel like our sophomore and junior classes can contribute right away. We should have more speed and depth at our skill positions, but we will lack some experience up front at the offensive and defensive line positions,” said Wegner. “It is important that we improve quickly up front as we always play a tough non-district schedule with Ft. Gibson, Collinsville, and Claremore. Class 4A-3 will be a great district again so building momentum heading into district play is a must. We will depend on our seniors to set the tone as expectations are always high for Oologah football.” Collin Schrader (6-1, 275, Sr.), Jackson Gill (6-2, 265, Jr.) and Braden Langbehn (6-2, 225, Sr.) are key players in the overall success of the program this year. All three will play a crucial role up front. AJ Streater (6-0, 170, Sr.) and Braxton Moore (6-0, 170, Sr.) are two fast wide outs with big play potential. Quarterback Joseph Griswold (6-0, 155, Sr.) will lead this team with both his arm and his legs. Ashton Wright (5-7, 145, Jr.) is an elusive scat-back type who can fool you into thinking he’s caught and spring out of a pile for more yards.
DEFENSE
With six starters back on defense, the Mustangs are poised for a solid year thanks to players like Ty Cherry (5-10, 170, Jr.) at outside linebacker. Cherry can stop the run and support in pass coverage. Griswold and Streater will shore up the secondary for the Mustangs giving the team two legit playmakers at the corners. Cory Eaton (6-1, 275, Sr.) joins Schrader on the defensive line. Eaton has the size and strength to be a real difference maker this season. Nate Morrow (5-7, 175, Sr.) joins Cherry at linebacker. Morrow runs to the ball very well and has no fear when it comes to stopping the run. The Mustangs will base in a 4-2-5 and you will see them switch to a 3-3 when necessary. Newcomers to watch include Gavin Salt (5-9, 175, So.), Bryce Bires, Brad Hoisington, and Jaden Tanner. The coaching staff consists of Sam Noble (OC), George Peters, Layle Devilbiss, Shawn Hines, Brian Barnes, and Time McCarthy.
