Jenks Cheer Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst

State championships are a way of life at Jenks High School. The cheer team has contributed two titles (2010, 2019) to the 198 state championships the school has to its credit. Last season the Trojans placed third in the Class 6A state competition, less than one point from a runner-up finish. Head coach April Polk believes the program is still growing and starting to come into its own.

“We are still on the rebound, but the future is looking bright. We got third at state last year and we are working hard to move up in placement this year,” said coach Polk.

One of the captains this season us Brooke Bryan. Bryan is a junior and a strong leader for the team. Coach Polk said Bryan was once a timid flyer, but now she has gained confidence in herself and her teammates and has grown as an athlete.

Norah Wilson is a Swiss Army Knife for the Trojans.

“There is nothing this girl can’t do. She can fly, she can base, she can tumble… she does it all. She is our comic relief when practice gets tough, but she is a serious competitor,” said coach Polk.
