Kiefer Cheer – Team Spotlight – Presented by Fitspace

Success is something that every athletic team strives for. And once they reach it and get a taste of it, they want to work harder to get there again.

The Kiefer Trojan cheer squad knows what success looks like and they are aiming for that again this season, according to head coach Tracie Sexson.

“Our team has qualified for state for the past two years,” coach Sexson said proudly. “And we are working hard to achieve that goal again this year. We work hard and put in the time to be the best that we can.”

Jaylee Buck Sexson and assistant coach Sydney Rider are both in their first year of coaching at Kiefer.

She says that their squad has some good athletes but it there is something else that stands out to her. Kiefer Cheer along with us at the games.” “A major strength of the team is the positive attitudes of the girls, the school, and the community,” Sexson said. “We are fully supported in all of our endeavors and challenges.”

Senior captain Remi Campbell enjoys cheering and says that her favorite thing about being part of this team is how they never give up.

“I really like how we all get along,” she said. “We are able to rise up to whatever challenge we are given and that is important.”

Avery Kearney, who is a senior co-captain, does not see her team as a team but instead, more like a family.

“I enjoy how close our team gets throughout the season and the bonds we make with each other,” Kearney said. “I also love to see the crowd and student section cheer along with us at the games.”

Junior captain Jaylee Buck echoes her teammates thoughts about the team being close and says that plays a role in their success.

“I’ve gone to Kiefer my entire life and I’ve grown up with most of my classmates,” she said.

“There are many things I love about cheering for this school but one of my favorite things is getting the opportunity to cheer on all my lifelong friends and even some of my family members. My absolute favorite thing about this team is how close we have gotten in such a short time. I feel like each of us have a bond with each other and are always there for each other when needed. My team never hesitates to cheer myself, and others on for what may seem like small accomplishments.”
