Sand Springs Sandites Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by RibCrib

Coach: Joshua Berry

21-22 Record: 22-5

The Lady Sandites are coming off of a season that saw them advance to the Class 6A state tournament. But they are looking to do more this season than just going to the tournament, they want to compete and hoist the gold ball. Head coach Joshua Berry says that his team brings back talent this season which should help with a postseason run.

“We return three starters from last season,” Berry said. “We also bring back our second and third leading scorers. We have a solid team that has a lot of potential.” Hailey Jackson (6-0, Sr.) is a four-year starter who will join the 1,000-point club this year. She has been the second-leading scorer on the team behind Journey Armstead last three years. Now that Armstead has graduated, Jackson is looking to take on the role. She is an outstanding all-around player and will be key to the team’s success this season.

Also looking to play a major role for the team is Sakauri Wilson (5-5, Jr.). She is a junior and a two-year starter. She is an outstanding defender and is really quick at the guard position. Her basketball handling and energy along with her new found offensive game will be great to watch.

Other players that will look to make contributions this season are Taiona Morris (5-6, Jr.), Kiaryn Taylor (5-10, Jr.), Fayth Walker (5-7, Sr.), Abigaile Martin (5-6, So.), Tay’Ja Butler (5-6, So.), Calla Fueshko (5-7, Fr.), and Patience Pearce (5-10, Jr.). The team’s assistant coaches this season are Brad Mallam, Jordan Evans, and Bri Lowmack.
