Sand Springs Basketball Character Counts – Kooper Kelly – Presented by Eric Davidson State Farm

Kooper Kelly is a dual sport athlete at Charles Page High School. He has put in a lot of time and effort to be his best. Throughout his career, Kelly has seen his work pay off and he has enjoyed some memorable moments.

“It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication for me to be where I am today,” he said. “But the work has definitely been worth it. I think the highlight moment of my career was being announced as a starter during my freshman year. That showed me that my hard work was being noticed and was paying off. Another important moment for me is anytime we beat Sapulpa. They are our biggest rival so anytime we beat them, no matter the sport, is a good win.”

Kooper is a sophomore at Charles Page, where he plays both football and basketball. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.

There have been a number of people that have had an impact on him over the years, but he says that there are a couple of people that had a big influence.

“The role model in my life is my mom,” Kelly said. “She works hard every day and always has a good attitude. Another would have to be my fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Cabe. She always made sure to check up on me and has always and still supports my dreams.”

As a student-athlete for the Sandites, Kooper says that playing alongside his teammates is something that he appreciates a lot.

“I am really thankful for all of my teammates,” he said. “When we are at practice, I like going up against Blake Johnson because he is always going to give me his best. Also, I think that Jaxen Marshall is an underrated member of the team. He shows up everyday and works hard and is always getting the bench hyped and bringing new energy off the bench. I love being able to represent Charles Page High School and the community of Sand Springs. I would not want to play sports anywhere else.”
