Coach: Chaun Davis
21-22 Record: 19-7
The Lady Redhawks have had outstanding seasons recently making four consecutive state tournament appearances and they are ready to add another one to the list this year. Chaun Davis is taking over as head coach after being an assistant coach at Union for four years. He says that he is ready to see his team play. “We are a young talented team this season,” Davis said. “We will be looking to play at a fast pace.”
Aubrey Hishaw (6-0, Sr.) is a returning starter for Union. She is a strong power forward that plays with high energy. Aubrey is a rebounding machine and is extremely athletic. She should be a leader on the team this season. A player that is the glue of the team and helps keep things together is Kennedhi Barnes (5-4, Sr.). She is a fierce competitor on and off the court and can play multiple positions. Barnes is a strong vocal leader with a high basketball IQ.
One of the younger players to keep an eye on is Jamiya Woodard (5-10, So.), who is a 5-foot- 10 guard. She is extremely quick, athletic, and an aggressive scorer all around the board. Her defensive efforts will be key to the team’s success. Someone that will be looked to for some big shots will be Vanessa Coleman (5-10, So.). Her quick release is something extremely hard to guard. She continues to be a key piece for the Lady Redhawks.
Some other members of the team that will be ready when called on are Mia Adams (5-9, So.), Brooke Bettis (5-4, So.), Kaitlyn Gipson (5-3, So.), JaShay Devers (5-11, Jr.), Janaiya Rogers (5-4, Fr.), Deanna Stith (5-5, Jr.), Isabella McSwain (5-4, Fr.), Alyna Clark (5-5, Fr.), Yonae’ Edwards (5-8, Fr.), and Esme’ Smith (5-11, So.). The assistant coaches this season are Trey Osborne, Imani Davis, Joe Dav Morgan Bizzell, and Amari Dennis.
