Coach: Ryan Wakley
21-22 Record: 25-5
The Conquerors were eight points away from winning the Class 4A basketball state championship last season. But they are ready to get back on the court and try to get back and finish the job this season. Head coach Ryan Wakley is in his 26th season leading the team and he says that he is excited about this year’s squad.
“I am really looking forward to coaching this group,” he said. “They have a great work ethic. Their talents complement each other very well. They genuinely like each other and push each other daily.”
The team will be led by a duo of juniors, Michael Doctor (6-1, Jr.) and Chris Mason (6-6, Jr.). Both guys are high-end competitors that are very talented. They both have the talent and should have the opportunity to compete at the next level of competition. Evan Migliore (6-6, Jr.) is another player that will look to make big contributions to the Conqueror’s season.
He is always doing the little things on the court that helps your team win. He is the type of player that can have a big impact on the game even if he does not score a point.
Other players that will step up and look to play roles this season are Toye Taiwo (6-0, Sr.), Ayden Hamilton (6-2, Jr.), Ward Johnson (5-8, Fr.), Caleb Farquhar (6-0, Sr.), Joseph Fletcher (6-1, Sr.), and Vinny Iser (6-1, So.). Jack McCrary (6-0, Fr.), Kyle Covington (6-1, Sr.), Jordan Brown (6-3, So.), Gunnar Goodnight (5-8, Fr.), Finn Key (6-0, Fr.), and Kolby Reese (6-2, So.) are other team members should be watched out for.
