Who are your children and what grades and sports do they play?
Linda: Kanen Bristol-Junior plays football, basketball, track. Kloie Bristol-8th grade plays basketball and soccer.
What type of activities do you volunteer for?
Linda: I volunteer to help with anything that is needed from working concessions at the games to organizing fundraisers. I am our High School Hoops Club president and with that comes organizing tournament hospitality rooms, making sure the players have sack meals for away games, meals before games and many more duties. I am big on fundraisers so our kids have everything they need to succeed.
Why do you feel it’s important for parents to get involved?
Linda: It is important for parents to be involved to show their kids they enjoy and care about whatever the activity may be. The more involvement of a parent the more leadership their kids will have. Over the years I have seen kids lose their parents, I am a second mom to some so being involved I know those kids can always have me in the stands supporting and cheering them on.
What is the most satisfying aspect of volunteering for you?
Linda: Volunteering to me is about getting to know people and helping out for a good cause, having pride in what you do and in what your kids love to do as well.
What do you enjoy doing with your free time?
Linda: With my free time I enjoy spending it with my family, just hanging out at home together watching movies or going to sporting events.
Catoosa head coach Evan Drake on Linda’s contributions: “Linda is our booster club president and she is always working for the basketball program. She goes above and beyond for the kids. She hand makes sack lunches for each away game and then has a second snack bag waiting for them after each game also. She is also in charge of our fundraisers and does a phenomenal job making sure we can get the things we need.”
