Sapulpa girls claim 5A State Championship – Presented by Creek County Abstract & Title

The Sapulpa Lady Chieftains captured the school’s sixth state championship in basketball after defeating Holland Hall, 75-74, Saturday, March 11 in the Class 5A State Championship game at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.

Sapulpa finished the 2022-23 season with a 25-2 record under head coach Darlean Calip and also posted wins over Glenpool (79-43) and El Reno (58-44) on its path to a title. The Lady Chieftains closed the season by winning eight consecutive games and 18 of their last 19.

Other state championships by the Lady Chieftains came in 1979, 1980, 1998, 2007 and 2021.

Members of Sapulpa include: Raegan McQuarters, Jayla Moton, Taylor Bilby, Riki McQuarters, Kailynne Parker-White, Nylia Reid, Shay Koch, Mataya Hall, Wrigley Adkisson, Stailee Heard and Tyla Heard.
