Work is a vital piece of being a successful athlete. If the work is not put in, the athlete will not be able to reach their full potential. Griffin Tucker is a golfer for Holland Hall and he says that it takes a lot in order to be his best.
“For me to be successful in golf I need to be consistent in my practice and stick to my routine,” he said. “Another huge key for me to be successful is for me to play and compete against my friends or teammates.”
In his senior year, Tucker loves to play golf. At Holland Hall, he serves as vice president of the Student Ambassador program and he is a member of the Environmental Club. He says that he enjoys being a part of these activities and what they allow him to be able to do.
“Both of these activities provide me with countless volunteer opportunities and let me help give back to my community.”
“ ”There have been a few different people that have been influential in Griffin’s life and he says that he would not be the person that he is today without them.
“My biggest influences are my parents,” he stated. “They want to see me succeed no matter what I do. They have always been extremely supportive of me. Also, my Applied Anthropology teacher, Mrs. Beckwith, has had the biggest impact on my life. She taught me how to learn in different ways and how to leave an impact on anything I do.”
Tucker has enjoyed some great moments on the golf course during the span of his career, but he has one moment that stands out the most.
“My favorite moment in golf was coming in as runner-up at state last year,” he recalled. “I enjoyed this moment because I got to share it with some of my best friends.”
Whenever he is out on the course, Griffin knows that he is playing for more than just himself, and he takes pride in that.
“It’s very important to me to represent my community and school when I play. Holland Hall has given me the opportunity to play golf at a competitive level so I try my best to be my best self on the golf course.”
