9Qs With Coweta’s Sam Wood – Presented By Redbud Physical Therapy

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Sam: I’m passionate about running because I love the adrenaline of catching someone who seemed out of reach for the longest time. I love getting better with every race whether with time or a new viewpoint on how to race.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Sam: My favorite part of the team is probably the people. If it wasn’t for the upperclassmen I probably would have dropped the sport.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
Sam: I initially got into running because I used cross country as a way to condition myself for baseball but I fell in love after my seventh grade cross country season and I haven’t looked back since.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Sam: My favorite part so far has been running state in both track and cross country. We had some upsets my freshman year but ever since we have done solid at state and I plan for it to continue even this year.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?
Sam: My all time favorite memory was running in the Chili Pepper Festival in Fayetteville this past cross country season.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Sam: The teammate that left the biggest impression on me is Max Clark. He will not let me slack
off even when I want to. And I definitely would not be as fast as I am currently without him.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Sam: The person who inspires me the most is probably my teammate Madix Swalley. He is the reason I push myself so I can catch him and hopefully beat him one of these days.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Sam: If I could go anywhere I’d probably go to Monaco during the Monaco Grand Prix with my Dad.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Sam: I would like to say thank you to my coaches; Coach Harper, Coach Ng, Coach Cronister, Coach Wilson, and Coach Clements thank you for watching and training me for my years of running. It has been a pleasure running for your team.
