SAND SPRINGS SANDITES

Coach: BOBBY KLINCK

7-5

OFFENSE

Charles Page High School and head coach Bobby Klinck lost a few seniors to graduation, but several players are returning to the field, which will give the Sandites a fighting chance this season. “We are losing some valuable seniors but are returning many starters as well as players who saw significant playing time. We are looking to take the next step in this program,” said coach Klinck. Easton Webb (6-4, 180, So.) will run the spread offense for the Sandites. The offensive line is a strength this year with players like Ryley Kester (6-4, 270, So.), Tyler Smith (6-0, 275, Sr.), and Marcus Sims (6-0, 280, Sr.) leading the way. Add Mason Harris (Sr.) to the mix and you have a salty group with bad intentions. Harris is a state qualifier at heavyweight in wrestling and will be a team captain on the football team this season. Running back Kenneth Page (6-0, 200, Sr.) will love having these guys up front, but Page brings power and speed to the backfield, giving the Sandites a legit option in the run game. This summer the Sandites will work to develop depth at wide receiver and get Webb comfortable with standing in the pocket and slinging the ball downfield despite starting a majority of the games last year as a freshman.

DEFENSE

In the 4-2-5 scheme the Sandites will run, players like Keagan Gilman (5-8, 180, Sr.) must have big seasons at linebacker. Gilman can cover from hash-to-hash and plays to the whistle. Multiple fronts and coverages will allow the defensive linemen to shuffle and keep opposing offensive lines guessing. Waylon Jeffers (6-1, 230, So.) has solid technique and fundamentals at defensive tackle and will be a force to contend with this season. Alex Dudley (6-0, 175, So.) and Gatlin Gun (5-9, 150, Sr.) will patrol the secondary and look to stop the big plays in the passing game. Owen Floyd (5-10, 185, Sr.) joins Gilman at linebacker giving the Sandites a pair of old school thumpers on the field. Dallas Elifrits (6-1, 125, Sr.) is surprisingly effective on the defensive line despite being undersized. Overall, the defense has five returning starters and could be the strength of the team early in the season. The coaching staff includes Jake Bray, Shane Ingram, Jay Fleishman, Kevin Avey, Lee Kizzar, Gage Kaiser, Gary Joice, Thomas Parks, Parker Borovetz, Mike Stephens, and Darrack Harger.
