Skiatook Lady Bulldogs 2023 Softball Team Preview – Presented by Steve Moyer – Shelter Insurance

SKIATOOK LADY BULLDOGS

Coach: JORDAN JONES

OUTLOOK

Skiatook will lean on key pieces such as Jadyn Whinery and Brynlee Frame, among others, in 2023. Head coach Jordan Jones led the Bulldogs to a 19-16 record last season and will have a young group this year with just two seniors on his roster. “We will be a pretty young team, with only two seniors. But we are returning several players from last year having only graduated three,” Jones said. “Our team will have to be led by our juniors and seniors and our underclassmen will have to step up and play their role. It is a young but talented group that we are excited to see grow as a team.” Whinery has played a starting role since she was a freshman and can produce as a pitcher and outfielder, and gives Skiatook a solid bat in the middle of the lineup. “Jadyn has been a starter for us since her freshman year. She can play outfield, but we primarily use her as a pitcher,” Jones said. “She is also a smart and strong hitter, typically batting in the three or four spot for us. Jadyn is a great player and a great leader on and off the field.” Frame, a .364 career hitter, will be a four-year starter in the middle infield for the Bulldogs. She has a .905 career fielding percentage.

“Brynlee is one of our seniors this year. She is one of our most consistent hitters and she can bat anywhere in our lineup,” Jones said. “Brynlee is a great player and a leader on and off the field.” Sophomore Megan Williams picked up valuable experience last season as a freshman centerfielder. Jones wants to give her more work as a pitcher in 2023. “Megan was a freshman last year and really did a great job in center field for us. She is also a pitcher and we are hoping to work her into more of a starting rotation this year than we did last year. We are excited to see what she can do this year with a year of experience under her belt,” Jones said. Like Williams, Teagan Bowman played a key part as a freshman catcher last season. “Teagan is a great kid. She became our starting catcher last year as a freshman after our senior suffered an injury,” Jones said. “She stepped into that role really well and did a great job for us. She is a great student and works hard in FFA as well.” Ryleigh Harper will also contribute for the Bulldgos.
