Bixby’s Cord Nolan – Football Spotlight – Presented by Excel Therapy

Cord Nolan has been a big part of Bixby’s offense through the first four games of the season.

The sophomore tight end leads the Spartans with 240 receiving yards and four of his seven receptions have been for a team-high touchdowns. In Bixby’s 60-2 win over Norman North last week, he had 126 receiving yards on just two catches that both went for touchdowns, including one from 68 yards. Nolan is developing his blocking skills and by the end of the year would like to reach 10-15 touchdowns.

“I want to improve on blocking as a tight end and score 10-15 TDs. And as a team win a state championship and keep growing closer as a team,” he said.

“I’ve improved my route running and catching. My strengths are playing physically on both sides of the ball and I feel I’ve improved most just in my general knowledge of the game.”

Nolan also plays linebacker where he has returned an interception for a touchdown and caused one fumble.

Nolan, a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons, says his most memorable high school moment came last year when the Spartans took down Jenks in the Class 6A semifinals.

Following high school, Nolan wants to play college sports, either football or baseball, and then become a firefighter.
