Q&A with Sand Springs’ Alysa Chase – Presented by Alan Copeland Shelter Insurance

VYPE: What are your goals this season in cheer, both personally and as a team?
Alysa: My goal is to become stronger as an athlete and to win nationals and regionals.

VYPE: Where do you feel like you’ve improved the most going into this year?
Alysa: I feel like I’ve mostly improved my flyer flexibility.

VYPE: What are your strengths and what have you improved on the most over the course of your high school career?
Alysa: I feel my strengths are my stunting and being there for my team when they’re counting on me. I’ve definitely improved in my confidence and I’m definitely out of my box more.

VYPE: What’s your most memorable cheer moment during your high school career?
Alysa: My most memorable cheer moment was hitting 0 of our routine day 1 of nationals last year, it was a huge accomplishment for it hasn’t happened in a long time.

VYPE: Who has been your biggest influence and why when it comes to cheer?
Alysa: My biggest influence in cheer would be Aydan James, he was always so fun and enjoyed cheering. He was an amazing leader(and cheerleader) and always wanted us at our best.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school (college, work, etc)?
Alysa: My plans after high school are to renovate a van and travel the world. After that I would like to be a marine biologist.

VYPE: What are some of your achievements?
Alysa: My biggest achievement was making varsity my freshman year. I’ve worked so hard for it ever since I joined cheer in fifth grade.
