VYPE: What are your goals this season in cheer, both personally as a team?
Laylah: My goals this year is to learn more about being a leader and to win nationals with
my team.
VYPE: Where do you feel like you’ve improved the most going into this year?
Laylah: I feel like I have learned to let go going into this year, especially things that
happened last season. I’ve realized that it’s a new year.
VYPE: What are your strengths and what have you improved on the most over the
course of your high school career?
Laylah: I feel like I have improved most since freshman year a lot in my leadership skills
and I’ve learned that having a good attitude is very important and affects the team.
VYPE: What’s your most memorable cheer moment during your high school career?
Laylah: My most memorable moment over my high school years in cheerleading would
have to be being given the opportunity to cheer alongside my older sister and join her in all
of her “lasts” as a sandite cheerleader.
VYPE: Who has been your biggest influence and why when it comes to cheer?
Laylah: My biggest influence in my cheer career has definitely been my mom, she always
pushes me to do my best even when I don’t want to and she never sugar coats anything or
just tells me what I want to hear, she always knows the right words to say and gives the
best advice, she’s my biggest supporter for sure!
VYPE: What are your plans after high school (college, work, etc)?
Laylah: My plans after high school are college or a cosmetology program, whichever I feel
is the best fit for me when it comes to that time. But I know I want to do hair and maybe
own a salon when I get older.
VYPE: What are some of your achievements?
Laylah: An achievement I want to mention is when our 22-23 (last school year) stunt team
won our first stunt match when we had never competed in stunt before. It was a big
accomplishment and we were all very proud of ourselves.
