Charles Page High School
Tatum Wright is a senior at Charles Page High School and a member of the color guard.
Wright got her start in guard when she was in middle school.
“I started participating in guard when I was in middle school, around eighth grade,” said
Wright. “What I love the most about being a member is just the team overall, as well as the
performance aspect. I have never been happier than I am smiling and performing with my
team.”
Performing is something Wright truly enjoys. During her time at Charles Page, she has
made many great memories with her teammates.
“Last year during one of our playoff games it began snowing as we had just finished some
dances with the band. It made the whole night magical and made me fall in love with guard
all over again,” said Wright.
Aside from being a member of the guard squad, Wright also serves as an officer in National
Honor Society. In the classroom, Wright said she has a favorite class and teacher.
“English/Literature is my favorite subject, and my favorite teacher would be my English
teacher from last year, Mrs. Liston,” said Wright.
Wright said her family has supported her throughout her life and she is grateful for them.
“My mom and my sister are big influences in my life. My mom always looks out for me and
has my best interest in mind, and my sister knows all my innermost secrets and has been
by my side for as long as I can remember,” said Wright.
When she’s not practicing or working on schoolwork you can usually find Wright hanging
out with friends or siblings.
“I enjoy hanging out with my friends or siblings, whether just stopping to get ice cream or
hanging out at Walmart. I also love to make up some personal guard routines,” said Wright.
Her plans after high school include college and eventually working in education.
“After I graduate, I plan to get a dual degree for my education and intercultural studies
degrees. I hope to teach elementary school and work closely with an overseas nonprofit
organization,” said Wright.
