BIXBY SPARTANS

BOYS

Coach: Lance Kight

20-6

Bixby returns four of its starters from a 20-win team a season ago, although the Spartans will have to replace star guard Parker Friedrichen, who is now playing at Wake Forest.

Head coach Lance Kight says his team’s overall depth will be the biggest strength.

“Our overall depth will be the strength of our team. If we stay hungry and healthy, this team has a chance to go deep into the playoffs,” Kight said. Leading the way is VYPE Top 100 nominee Triston Driver, who is being recruited by the likes of Tulsa and Rice. Driver (6-0, G, Jr.) averaged 14.5 points and 6.1 assists as a sophomore and will lead the Spartans from the point guard spot. “He was one of only two sophomores to make the All-Frontier Conference team,” Kight said. “One of the top junior guards in Oklahoma and was No. 2 scorer last season.” Another big piece returning is Thomas Coffey, a 6-foot-4 senior small forward who averaged three points per game last year. “One of the top shooters in Tulsa,” Kight said. “He has grown two inches since last season and had an outstanding summer for us and his AAU team.” Cooper Fiske (5-11, G, Sr.) can do a lot of things for Bixby as either a starter or coming off the

bench. “He led the team in charges last season and makes everyone around him better,” Kight said. Sam McCormick (6-4, PF, Sr.) and Luke Friedrichsen (6-0, G, Sr.) join Driver as returning double-figure scorers. McCormick averaged a double-double with 11.8 points and 10.4 rebounds, and Friedrichsen averaged 10.5 points to go along with 3.1 steals. Sophomore Griffen Stewart, an athletic 6-foot-5 post, will see his first varsity action this season. Others who will contribute are Spencer Holley (6-3, SF, Jr.), Nick Friedrichsen (6-4, SF, Sr.), Rylan Antle (6-3, SF, Sr.) and move-in Shon Lewis (6-1, SG, Jr.). Holley averaged 8.6 points and 5.8 rebounds last year, while Friedrichsen averaged 5 points and 2.8 blocks, and Antle averaged 5.2 points and 3.1 rebounds.
