Coach: Joshua Berry
22-23 Record: 18-9
The Lady Sandites look to build on a successful 18-win season a year ago. Coach Joshua Berry returns the nucleus of the team and is excited to see where this team will land. “We are returning four starters from last years team that lost in Area Consolation championship game. We have a good junior transfer and a couple good freshman that should be able to make our depth a lot better this year,” said Berry. Sakauri Wilson (5-6, Sr.) returns as one of the top scorers for coach Savage. Wilson averaged 12 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Her play at point guard is crucial for the teams overall success.
Taiona Morris (5-7, Sr.) is a three-year starter and is getting noticed by schools at the next level. Morris is known for making big shots look easy. Kiaryn Taylor (5-10, Sr.) is a forward/guard type who averaged 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds last season. This hybrid player can play all five positions, rebound, and shoot the three. Hope Bump (5-9, Jr.) averaged 18 points and 9.0 rebounds last season. Bump can score inside or out and is a welcomed addition to the lineup. Shooting guard Abigaile Martin (5-7, Jr.) averaged 5.0 points last season and gives the team another player in the backcourt who can make a difference every night. Calla Fueshko (5-7, So.) averaged 7.0 points as a freshman. Tay’ja Butler (5-7, Jr.) is another player who can come in off the bench and make a difference in the game. Tianna Butler (6-1, Fr.) and Aaliyah Simone (5-6, Fr.) are two exciting underclassmen making an impression early. Butler is a shot blocker that plays outside on the offensive end of the court. Simone has an explosive step and is expected to bring a lot of energy to the court. Assisting coach Berry are Bri Lowmack, Jeremy Bump, and Jo Harbison.
