Sapulpa’s Hallee Sumner – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Tour Quality Golf

Athletes at all levels of competition work hard to be as successful as they can be. Whether it is an organized practice or putting in the work on their own time, they know that they have to be dedicated to their sport.

Hallee Suner is a senior golfer at Sapulpa High School and she says that along with the work, you have to stay focused on your goals.

“It has taken a lot of hours of focus and dedication,” she said. “Even sacrifices every week to stay consistent and improve in my sport. My main motivation comes from being eager to learn and seeing myself improve from the hard work I get to put in.”

Throughout her career, there have been many memorable moments that Hallee has had on and off the course. But she says that there is one moment that stands out as her favorite.

“The highlight of my career was placing first out of all individuals in my region to qualify for the state tournament,” she recalled. “It was great to see my hard work paying off.”

There have been a number of people in her life that have been impactful to Sumner and helped shape her into the person that she has become.

“One of my biggest influences for me is Lydia Ko,” Sumner said. “She uses the gift that God has given her to spread the word of the gospel which is one of the biggest achievements in my eyes. Also, my tenth grade science teacher because I wouldn’t even have to tell him I was going through anything outside of school, he just knew and always had the right thing to say.”

Though she competes against a number of other golfers throughout the season, there is one person that Sumner enjoys besting the most when they are on the course.

“I enjoy beating my father on the golf course the most because not only is he a good golfer he is the reason I started the sport.”
