Any time that Carter Benton steps out on the basketball court, he is focused and prepared to give it his all. No matter how big of a role that he is playing, Benton does not hold anything back and he says that it takes a lot to be successful.
“My biggest motivation when I play is to be the best player that I can be,” he said. “I want to help my team achieve the goals that we have set for ourselves that season. There is a lot of hard work and dedication involved in being your best.”
Carter is a senior at Holland Hall, where he is a shooting guard on the basketball team. He is also involved in the Holland Hall Ambassadors.
Throughout his career, Benton has made a lot of great memories with his teammates, both on and off the court. But he says that one accomplishment stands out as his favorite.
“The highlight moment of my career would have to be winning the area and advancing to state last year,” he said. “I was glad to be able to do that with the seniors who I had played with since sixth grade.”
Along with the work that he invests, Carter says that having a really good support system has also helped him get to where he is today.
“My parents are the biggest role models in my life,” he said. “They both taught me what hard work looks like. Also, my english teacher, Ms. Elizabeth Morgan has played an important role. Not only has she helped me become a better student, but also always makes an extra effort to encourage and support me.”
When he scrolls through his social media, Benton has one follow that enjoys the most
“Feed Your Game Basketball is my favorite,” he said. “They post the best basketball content and Keenan Curry always has great advice.”
Wearing the Holland Hall uniform means a lot to Carter and it is something that he is proud to be able to do.
“I have gone to school at Holland Hall since first grade so I take a lot of pride in representing our community the right way.”
