Tot Chandler is a multisport athlete at Victory Christian School. The senior competes in football, wrestling, and track and says that in order to be his best, he has to be willing to put in the time.
“Hard work, discipline, and determination are key to being successful,” he said. “Also, I have been blessed with some amazing coaches that have helped me get where I am today.”
Along with his coaches, Chandler has a few other people that have been impactful to his life.
“My grandpa is my role model,” he said. “He is my biggest fan and he takes care of everyone. Also, my brother. I look up to him because he is currently playing college football. Lastly would be Mr. Hines. He was my third grade teacher’s husband. He would take several of the advanced kids and teach us math at a much faster rate and higher level.”
Victory Christian head football coach, Brett Smith, knows that Tot is an outstanding athlete and has potential to play at the next level.
“Tot is a multi year state finalist in both track and wrestling,” Smith said. “He now holds the school record in tackles, after breaking the record this season. Tot plays on both sides of the ball as a linebacker on defense and a wide receiver and running back on the offensive side. He has put on 20 pounds since the end of last season and is looking at multiple college offers.”
Throughout his career, Tot and his teammates have played against numerous opponents. But he has one that he like to beat the most.
“I think the team I enjoy getting the win against the most is Beggs,” he said. “We are a Christian school and they are the demons. My highlight moment of my career happened against them too. We beat Beggs 27-26 my sophomore year. My brother was the senior quarterback and being out there together and winning was awesome.”
The success that he has seen is something that Chandler knows he could not have done on his own. He says that he is thankful for all of his teammates.
“The teammate I like to practice against the most is Kaden Newfield,” he said. “He is on the defensive line and when I am on the offensive line, I am matched up against him. We make each other better when we compete. One guy that goes a little unnoticed is Jonas Stafford. He is an amazing linebacker and we have played side by side for years. He doesn’t get much credit for what he does.”
Along with competing in his sports, Chandler is also a member of the Student Council and the E-Sports team.
