Swimming is a physically demanding sport and to compete in multiple events is taxing. For Owasso High School senior Izzy Peters, competing in multiple events is just another day at the pool.
The senior will swim the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 200 freestyle, and the 500 freestyle. The goal never changes. Make state.
“My goal for this season is to make it to State one last time and enjoy hanging out with my friends,” said Peters.
What makes competing and representing OHS so fun are the teammates.
“I love how close I am with each and every person on the swim team and that everyone gets along with each other. What I love about being a student-athlete at Owasso is that all the teachers are so understanding after a busy week or the day after a meet,” said Peters.
The team this season features several swimmers who are expected to have great seasons. Peters said the team expects to do well.
“The swim team this year is awesome. Everyone is included in everything we do together, and we have a lot of talented freshmen coming in for the future of the team,” said Peters.
Peters takes the first half of student-athlete just as serious. She is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Senior Board, and Athletic Leadership Council. Peters enjoys her classes and teachers, and she has big plans for her future. “My favorite subject is history, and my favorite teacher is Mrs. McBride because she is so understanding and has a fun way of teaching that is still effective enough to pass an AP test.
After I graduate, I will attend the University of Arkansas where I will double major in Art History and Studio Art,” said Peters.
In her free time, you can usually find Peters practicing in other sports.
“In my free time, I practice my two other sports which are competitive Trampoline through USA Gymnastics and competitive ninja (like the show, American Ninja Warrior), at my gym, Airbenders,” said Peters.
