2023-2024 Sapulpa Wrestling Preview – Presented by Sapulpa Dentistry & Braces

Inside Sapulpa Wrestling
Head coach Kyle Blevins and the Sapulpa wrestling team enter the 2023-24 season with a number of wrestlers looking to wrestle their way to a solid season and hopefully find themselves at the Big House wrestling for a spot on the podium.

Despite losing a couple of state placers to graduation, Sapulpa is moving forward and reloading with some talented wrestlers.

Cavin Peper, a state placer last season, finished 3 rd at 113-pounds and is poised for another run at the podium this season. Peper will likely move up in weight but continues to be one of the top wrestlers coming out of the Sapulpa wrestling room. Ethan Peterson is another wrestler to watch this season. At the state tournament last season Peterson lost his wrestle-in match but is ready to avenge that loss and work his way into the state bracket.

Other wrestlers coach Blevins has in his lineup this season include Christian Cue, Jack Madden, Jackson Willingham, Jackson Mills, Alexander Henderson, Nicholas Dobbs, Ryan Peterson, Isaiah Watashe, Micco Jones, Payson Robinson, and others.

The girls team features three ranked wrestlers and a growing team that continues to improve. Liz Cope is ranked No. 2 at 145-pounds and was the state runner-up last year at that same weight. Cope is not the only wrestler to qualify for state. Caris Morris is ranked No. 3 at 170-pounds after wrestling in the state tournament last season. According to coach Blevins, Morris is currently sidelined with an injury. Her return is uncertain. Kassandra Buckner is ranked No. 5 at 155-pounds and was able to take the bye in the wrestle-in round to make the state bracket at 155. Destinee Miller is another wrestler coach Blevins is excited to see perform this season. As a team, they girls are ranked No. 10 in preseason in Class 6A.

Overall, the Sapulpa program is growing and continues to put wrestlers on the biggest stage. Look for more from both teams as the season marches forward.
