Bixby High School wrestler Isaiah Jones started wrestling at a very young age. Like many of his peers, Jones has stuck with the sport and is looking forward to his sophomore season.
“I was about seven years old when I started wrestling,” said Jones.
This season Jones will likely wrestle at 120 or 126-pounds. Jones is comfortable at both weights and said he loves the environment the team is creating in the wrestling room.
“What I love most about my team and teammates is just the great environment and we treat each other like family. We’re pretty close,” said Jones. “The goal for this season is to be a 6A State Champion and win Dual State as a team.”
Jones is a member of National Honor Society and said being a student-athlete is at Bixby is a great opportunity.
“I love the environment we have and the great opportunities we are provided with,” said Jones.
The sophomore said his faith has been a big influence in his life.
“A big influence on my life has been Jesus Christ. I couldn’t accomplish anything without him, and I owe all my success to him,” said Jones.
The goal is to become a Division I wrestler in college. Jones said he is undecided on a major.
When there is free time on the schedule, Jones said he enjoys hanging out with friends and playing video games.
