Sand Springs’ Kasen McAffrey Athlete Spotlight Presented by Eric Davidson State Farm

Kasen McAffrey

Charles Page High School

An underclassman to watch this season for the Charles Page wrestling team is freshman Kasen McAffrey. McAffrey will likely wrestle at 138-pounds for the varsity team. McAffrey said his favorite thing about being a wrestler at Sand Springs are the coaches.

“The coaches in every sport I’ve played really invest in me to improve and grow as an athlete. I also love the competition that Class 6A schools provide,” said McAffrey.

As a member of the team, McAffrey said he is enjoying his teammates and is learning from the upperclassmen.
“What I love about this team is all their own personality’s and how well we all get along with one another,” said McAffrey. “We started the year with a lot of injuries, we have a lot of backup guys right now, but it’s given me the opportunity to step up and fill in to get varsity time as a freshman.”

McAffrey has set a goal for himself coming into the season which includes being a state qualifier.

One day McAffrey is hoping to wrestle in college, but for now he is focused on making the most of the opportunities at Sand Springs. He is involved in other activities as well, but when he does have free time, he is usually spending it working on his skills for wrestling. “I’m a part of the Keystone Kids Wrestling Club. I want to wrestle in college cause the goal is always more time on the mat. I don’t have a lot of free time but when I do I like to watch videos of my matches to see how to improve, I also like video games and hanging with my friends,” said McAffrey.
