Solona Knight

Coweta High School

A five-year veteran of the wrestling mat, Coweta High School senior Solona Knight is setting big goals for this season.

“My ultimate goal for this season is to place at state this year but my steps in getting there is taking all my losses and learning from them. I have a promising season if I keep pushing and grinding toward being a better wrestler,” said Knight.

Representing Coweta High School and her teammates is something Knight loves to do. Being a student-athlete at CHS is special for her.

“What I love most about being a student-athlete at Coweta is the core values I learned from my sports such as determination, self-discipline, strategic thinking, emotional control, and sportsmanship. I also love how every coach I have helped me grow as a young woman,” said Knight. “The thing I love most about my teammates is that I never feel as though I am alone when things get hard. I have teammates to look up to, to depend on, and most importantly to learn from.”

Aside from being a wrestler, Knight also participates in color guard and mock trial. The senior enjoys all of her classes and is making plans for her future.

“My favorite subject would have to be English. My favorite teacher would have to be my AP English teacher Mrs. Elliott,” said Knight. “After I graduate, I would like to go into law as my major and eventually be either an intellectual property, entertainment, corporate, or criminal lawyer. As for a college, I want to attend an Historically Black Colleges and Universities such as either Florida A&M University for its color guard and women’s wrestling team or Howard University for its dance program and color guard.”

Knight enjoys spending her free time gathering her thoughts and preparing for the future.

“In my free time, I love to journal and sit out on the back porch listening to music and soaking up the sun, whilst feeling the nice cool breeze. I use journaling as a way to escape from all the pressures that are on me currently. The things I usually journal about are future goals, books I need to read, things to buy, budget plans, and schedule things for sports and work,” said Knight.
